Fender...never say never.

You're right and I played it for the longest time and then went back to the P.

I'm with Precisions now and probably will remain that way here on out. I'm actually down to two basses, an April 1958 all original that I use 80 percent of the time, and a Custom Shop Journeyman 57 P in see-through blonde.

The CS is so close to my 58 it's scary.

I'm planning on sharing a thread soon in which I give the details about the two basses, in an attempt to offer an opinion about how well I think Fender is doing on its current crop of vintage reissues.

George

Well it would be interesting to hear some more details of your adventures in the land of "J". What brought you there, drew you to it, what you liked about it. What eventually made you return to the world of "P".

Were there dragons to slay? Fair maidens to rescue?

I've owned a few Jazz basses in the last five years and so I'm trying to pin down the one you're talking about.

I had a refin 60 stack a few years ago and it may have been that one. If so, I no longer have it. I was never comfortable taking it out of the house.

Wow, but that bass was a head turner in every way.

At my age, I don't have time anymore to have something just for the eye candy pleasure factor.

George

Great to see you are back, George!

I guess I missed seeing your return during my midyear internet-free hiatus.

I noticed in a post above that I stated the Red Fender Standard Jazz Bass is my favorite. It was until I put a 2011 NOS (still in box) Fender Hwy One Jazz Bass neck with Rosewood Fretboard on my natural finish Ash Fender FSR Standard Body. Now I am in love with this one. It has satin poly instead of Nitro the earlier versions had. Heel adjustable Posiflex rods in Neck. Great sustain, NO dead spots like before, Holds tuning very well and the Rosewood is better looking than the FSR MIM neck it had.
