I saw Tom and the Heartbreakers three times.

Each time was like going to a vintage guitar shop seeing the guitars he and Mike Campbell played during the shows. True guitar geeks and always put on a great show.

This turns what was a truly horrible day into one that's too bad to comprehend.

Thanks for the music Mr. Petty, you will be missed!

RIP Tom. I always enjoyed your music. I played Mary Jane's Last Dance at a gig last night. Dang, this is turning out to be a lousy 24 hours and it's not over yet.

Sad, I'd run into him back in the early days in Gainesville, wasn't crazy about his music but their was little doubt he worked hard to get to the top.

Side note, Don Felder was Petty's guitar teacher back in the early days (when Fender was just a guitar teacher).

Big fan here. I took a 1400 mi. road trip last week with one CD in the car- TP & the Heartbreakers 4-disc Anthology. Sang along with every song.

RIP.

And it just occurred to me that 3/5 of the Traveling Wilburys are gone.

Pretty ironic when a guy who fronts a band called "The Heartbreakers" dies of a busted pump.

Thanks for the great tunes, Mr. Petty and RIP.

What a loss. Such a cool dude, a key link between Brit and American rock 'n' roll, an independent spirit in the form of a musician.
