Just heard from Lynn. She is not sure she can make it so she will take no slots so she does not leave any vocals empty in case she cant show.

Guys, I'm seeing about 5 songs that are probably not going to cut it without horns.
Walking on Sunshine
Smooth
I will Survive
Into the Mystic
Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

Maybe we can come up with a few substitutions?

@K-9: Joe, you are probably right. Now would be a better time for substitutions, before signing up for any picks. Avoiding any confusion later.

@G-Man: Would it be easier for you to drop the "Horn" songs now, and bring up the next five or six songs from the "List of Love", or suggest new songs????

In my opinion I Will Survive does not need the trumpet part. I have seen this version done many times without a trumpet. Its a bassfest of a song with a cool guitar part and has a bass and guitar already

A case could also be made for doing Into the Mystic without horns although they do add a lot and personally I would miss them on that tune

the others I think will fall flat without a horn section. But I will say that since everyone knows there will be no horns and there is interest in a couple of these tunes I think it should be up to those who have signed on to drop it or not

ultimately its up to you guys with Pete having the final say. I am just the defacto admin since I am unable to attend. Whatever you guys decide is fine by me.

But It would be a good time to add the Glenn Campbell songs suggested earlier for any that are going to be cut.

Much as I hate to cut Into The Mystic too, that horn riff is so iconic in that song that unless someone can cover it on guitar I don't think we can do it proper justice. If you do the Cake version of I will Survive, you might be able to get away without horns. Make it almost a reggae style and I can noodle out something on the B.

I was just listening to Gentle on My Mind and I found a really nice, easy version in the key of D.

If some of you that are into that song, I think I could come up with something really nice on the Hammond to really color it in. I might even be able to sing it, but I would gladly defer to someone else in order to focus on the B3.

Any takers?

BTW, will there be any other keyboards/players there? If not I'll plan on bringing my full rig including the piano/synth. Let me know.

great suggestions Joe!
Piano Dan from Pete's band is supposed to be there as are the rest of the Decoys. But only Pete has made any picks so far

OK most of you have done a round two pick. Time to open up the list to fill it up and make any substitutions.

at this point I will manage the list and make any substitutions all of you want to do.You guys decide what stays or goes

I have some friends coming who can fill in on some songs that have minimal signups. If some suggestions are made, there's no problem giving an alternate tune a chance.

Don't by shy. Sign up today

Just Checking In; from the Wood Shed!

According to my notes,(and my standards)the "Essentials" of Clamfest have been covered.

Not only do we have "Music"; we have a "B-3" (Thank You K-9), "Bacon","Beer", and "Crumb-Cake" (Thank You Jerry) This is my Idea of Heaven.

Now! Regarding the "Song List"; If you were not aware, "Littlehand" (AKA Bigfoot) is preparing the Song Board for posting at OTL. I highly recommend that all would be participants sign up as soon as possible to eliminate any possibility of a problem. Even though Mom likes him best, "Littlehand" has been known to "complicate" certain issues at times. Believe me, I know my brother!!! So sign up early.

Besides! "G-Man" is the ultimate "Guardian of the List", there is no comparison.

The voices in my head want to celebrate "Labor Day", got to go!
