That looks like a peach of a guitar. The Kellys are well made and the components they use are very good for their market segment.

That control layout (two pups, one vol knob, one tone knob, and a switch) is my favorite setup. I have a few PRS Custom 22s with the same format.

It also has the push-pull for coil-tapping.

Nice looking guitar. Without the pickup surrounds, though, I think it would look better without covers (open coils). Kinda like a Wolfgang, etc.

I've never been a fan of no covers on buckers, except maybe on a super-strat. I guess that would include the Wolfgang.

I go both ways on HBs. On any guitar, for that matter.

As luck would have it, the guitar arrived while I was home for lunch. I played it for about 10 minutes and my initial impressions are:

* I got a LOT of guitar for $225.

* The guitar is gorgeous (pics forthcoming). The abalone inlays, binding, and flame top remind me of the quality in my Agile 3500 from a decade ago. The flame top is not bookmatched by it's not too bad.

* The Rockfield pups seem hotter than my Epi LP Custom Pro, which is okay because it gives me something different. They definitely have some character and the push-pull pots provide some nice spanky tones that will be usable in a praise band.

* I really like the neck. It's like a cut in half baseball bat and the action is very good.

* The weight is on the heavy side. I didn't weigh it but I'm guessing 9-10 lbs.

* I did notice the common complaint that I've read online where the strings from the first posts (closest to the nut) are touching the 2nd posts. I'll need to see if it will be an issue for tuning stability.

All-in-all, I'm quite pleased.

The mismatched top isn't quite as drastic as it appears in this pic.

Nice!

I found $2800 Les Pauls with mismatched tops when I was looking for mine.

Does the top change a bit looking at it from different angles? I've found that often they do.

These are high quality instruments, huh? Big Bang for the buck. Like the Agiles of 10+ years ago.
