Follow-up.

By the way, I guess the officers were calming him down while cuffing him by saying things like, "I know. I'm sorry." That county has a reputation for violent police encounters around here, but it's a good showing by the officers in this case.

Edited to add: By the above, I mean I think the officers were displaying a lot of compassion when other times they have been accused of otherwise.

BrentD, thanks for the link. Am glad to hear the Dad will not be punished any further than he already has. I was almost teary-eyed seeing that clip of him being held down and cuffed. I know they had to do it, but the whole dang story is awful.

There are times when the reactive side of me thinks that some people should be lead from the courtroom into an alleyway, given 2 behind the ear and tossed into a dumpster.

One thing they could have done differently is to have removed the offender from the courtroom and allow the fellow to remain, albeit restrained, and once he had calmed down bring the offender back in.

Personally, that is one time I wish a gun was close to hand. Crime of passion.

It's "the dad thing".

Perhaps you've asked yourself, "am I actually capable of killing someone?" Well, my friend, have a couple of daughters and then wait til somebody threatens to abuse or harm them in any way: you may be shocked by what suddenly boils up from the depths of your psyche.

Yes, indeed.

If the Judge hadn't been there the officers might have let the dude get past them.

"If the Judge hadn't been there the officers might have let the dude get past them."

I once represented a client who was a real moron, and he got in a very heated verbal argument in the hallway with opposing counsel. Later, counsel told me he was within seconds of hitting him.

My response was that I would have had to pull him off of my client, but I probably would have taken my time in doing so.

That guy (Sex offender) is not going to have a pleasant life. It will either be in solitary, or he will be dodging fists and shivs in Gen Pop.

For perps like him they really should stock their prison cell with a suicide kit.

He's gonna be somebody's boy toy if he's in Gen Pop. That is, if he doesn't get shivved first.

---"It's "the dad thing".___

More than dads. Shortly after the birth of our son a situation I do not wish to relate convinced me that my wife was capable of extreme ferocity toward anyone or anything that threatened her child, a side of her that I had never seen before. And I did, and do, admire her for it. Protection of offspring is as primal as it gets.
