Okay - we're past the holidays! Whew!

My Larrivee L-05 Custom arrived last Friday, while we were away for the holidays. But it's all good; the guitar had two days to sit in my office and warm up after a chilly ride across the country from California to Minnesota during one of the coldest weeks of the year!

The back story (quick version): I'd ordered this guitar over two years ago from Larrivee, but the screwed up one of the most important specs - it was supposed to have a hog top, but they made it with Sitka Spruce. So I sent it back and didn't reorder.

Then - many months later - I saw it show up on Reverb. I kept an eye on it, and it sat there forever. Maybe it was the slightly different from standard specs, or just the price (No one is spending big bucks on guitars these days that don't say Martin, Gibson or Taylor on them).

I finally decided that someday I was going to want a Larrivee L-05 anyway, so why not get one with specs that I'd hand picked?

So it's mine, and it sounds very good - better than I remembered from when I first saw it around 2 years ago, but those were very different circumstances (I was pretty disappointed and upset, to say the least!).

Plays great and the woods are nice. The fret ends are a little prickly - some of that could be from cross country travel, so I'm humidifying for a week or so, they I'll change strings, oil the fingerboard and bridge and file the frets if needed. I'll also lower the top three strings at the nut a little.
