I'm in an acoustic group with 2 other guitars and bass. I'm using my Music Man JP6 with piezo and electric pickups to give me the option of adding some electric sounds as needed. The piezo is routed directly to the board, but the magnetic sounds pretty dull that way. I have a Sansamp FlyRig which I've used to get the sound I want - a little grit, but not much - but, my big feet keep hitting the wrong button and sometimes it goes into Plexi mode, which is way too much. So I thought that another one button pedal which would give me some of the beef I need might work

I've considered the Sansamp blonde or the Boss Bassman pedals. They both look good, but without the opportunity to take a test drive, I'm not sure. Again, I basically want the sound of a clean tube amp with just a little gain, not going into OD territory. Either way, the output will be direct to the mixer, not an amp. Recommendations? Thanks.

Save some money and try this: cut a 1" length of 1" diameter dowel down the center to make two pieces that are half-moon in cross section.

Use hot snot to stick one of them vertically on the left side of the Plexi button. That way your hoof won't accidentally activate the Plexi if you're less than accurate when stomping around.

I like your idea, Peegoo! Since I lack the skills and the saw to cut a dowel down the middle (pathetic, I know), I could find some 1/4 round and just trim that to length. I should be able to handle that. Since the FlyRig works otherwise, it will save me from buying another piece of gear - not that I mind that too much!

That is another good option, Greg. Check out the local Home Cheapo. They sell molding by the foot.

Measure the height of the buttons on the Fly Rig and get a moulding that will be about 1/8" higher than the buttons when glued on. Another option (besides hot snot) is to use 3M double-stik foam tape to affix the little strip of molding to the face plate. It's easier to remove with a little solvent than the hot snot is if you decide later to reverse the modification.

I suggested you try this because it sounds like you like the sound of the SansAmp in the Fly Rig.

Hi Greg. If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative to the FlyRig, I can highly recommend the Joyo American Sound. It's a clone version of the T-21 Blonde. $39.99 from Amazon.

It doesn't have FX like the FR5, but it'll do Fender cleans to tweed dirt.
Also, for 40 bucks, it's worth just having one if things ever go pear-shaped with any other amp.

One question I have is why you are hitting the Plexi button accidentally? (if you're not using the Plexi side)

Are you switching the SansAmp on & off? If so, I don't understand why. Without the SansAmp engaged, the guitar sounds anaemic and horrible IMO. (like plugging an electric straight into a mixer with no preamp)
T-21 even explains this in the manual. The amp side should be an "always on" feature.

Anyway, check out the Joyo. Lots of demos available.

I'm considering a modification of Peegoo's ideas of putting a "bigfoot barrier" around the Plexi switch. I'm thinking of using an old guitar knob drilled out to fit over the pedal button.

But I may check out the Joyo pedal. If it gives me the amp sound I want, I can add FX to the mixer channel from the board. BTW, Mick, it's my tendency to hit more than one of those little buttons that started this all. When using a single cable from my guitar's piezo pickup, I want to disable the Sansamp, but that's when I wind up hitting the plexi button, which really sounds awful with the piezo.

"When using a single cable from my guitar's piezo pickup, I want to disable the Sansamp, but that's when I wind up hitting the plexi button..."

Ah yes, that makes sense. Especially after re-reading your OP! Thanks.

My lack of knowledge of the JP6 also compounded my misunderstanding. I can see how the peizo could sound like a jar full of bumblebees!

Hope your bigfoot remedy works!

And yes, $40 Joyo worth having :^)

Found the Joyo on the Bay for $20. Went for it. Easiest solution for a lazy sob like me.

Yep the Joyo American I great. As is the Joyo AC Tone. The Sans Amp Blonde is great too since you can turn off the speaker emulation if desired.

I also just picked up the Radial JDX Direct Drive box which is a game changer.
