I bought a brass slide and some National fingerpicks. I've got my 00028ec tuned to open G, a book by David Hamburger and I'm having some fun. The tone is pretty nice.

Cool.

Funnily enough I've never really played acoustic slide, but earlier today I was messing about in open G, playing "willin" by little feat with a slide on my pinky. Sounded "ok"

I play some. My favorite tuning is open D.
I am currently using a glass Coricidin bottle reissue, but I asked for a Joe Perry signature porcelin slide for Christmas.

I mess around with slide on a resonator. I'm not that serious about it yet, so I'm staying in standard tuning for now, which also lets me use the guitar on other tunes without retuning. I have both brass and glass slides - I prefer the glass ones. Don't like fingerpicks, much prefer using just my fingers. The reso is loud!

I have a brass round-neck Regal tricone reso that I play in standard tuning. I use a Dunlop brass slide on it. I'm not any good at it, but it's a fun departure from playing the usual way. If I played it more, I'd probably be better at it...

I do!

I like glass when I play slide on my Martin PS2 (00028-style).

On my Republic resonator (tricone "Clarksdale Special") I like a heavy, brass slide.

I've tried using thumb and/or fingerpicks, but I prefer the feel and tone of just my bare fingers.
And I usually play in standard tuning - on both guitars.

It is fun!!

After getting some technique down I'll give open D a try as well.

I leave my OM16GT in standard tuning and would like to leave the 00028 in an open tuning. I'm getting lazy in my old age.

Mike, is this the book you’re using? I’ve been looking for an entry level acoustic slide book ever since I picked up a reso earlier this year.
