Looking at local Craigslist for a Jazz bass. <br /> <br /> Going to take the fret's out, fill the slots with a standout epoxy, and learn this tune.<br /> <br /> To me, to play like Jaco is to approach the bass like a lead guitar. <br /> <br /> That's the easy part.<br /> <br /> And somehow or another, holding down the bottom.

Just a thought . . . if it's a nice original Fender neck, you might consider buying a fretless neck off ebay or wherever, and keeping the original fretted neck in good shape in storage.<br /> <br /> The resale market for fretted basses is a LOT better than the one for fretless!

He wasn't all about playing lead guitar on the bass. I suggest Bill Milkowski's book if you want to learn for more.<br /> <br /> Not to mention listening to the hundreds (thousands?) of recorded material he was on.
