I've got a '95 Gibson Gospel with a couple of tuners that need to be replaced. I'd love to slap 18:1 Grovers in it...but would prefer not have to mod the guitar.
Other than buying more Gibson branded ones, I've never really cared for their vintage style tuners, who makes a good high ratio machine head that would just drop in with no mods?

Right after I posted this...realized I should have posted on "Guitar Mods" board. Please move if necessary...

If it's the two-screws-per-tuner type you need, Kluson part number KTS90SLN is the bee's knees.

18:1 ratio, nickel plated, with translucent pearl keystone knobs.

They'll look stock but will be way better than the 12:1 or 15:1 that Gibson uses.

Here's the thing: if your Gibby has press-fit bushings on the face of the headstock, the Klusons will work fine.

If each of the Gibby's tuners have a 10mm barrel nut and washer on the face side of the headstock, you'll need to order 10mm conversion bushings because the holes in the headstock are too large for the Kluson press-fit bushings.

Amazon, Allparts, WD, and others (see links above) have the conversion bushings.

Gruhn's has a '95 Gospel and it does have washers and barrel nuts on the headstock.

It may be better to go with the Revolution G-mount locking plastic button type because they use the identical mounting scheme (washers and barrel nuts) as the stock units you already have on there.

And they are geared 19:1.

I put locking tuners on all of my guitars - as a bass player, guitar strings are impossibly tiny at string change time but lockers make them much easier to handle.

I have the Revolution plastic button locking tuners Peegoo linked on two of my guitars, they are some of the nicest tuners I’ve ever used - and they’re even economical. They were a direct drop on for both my 2016 LP Studio T and my Epi ES-339.
