I confess that I'm a incurable gear hound. I'm always on the hunt.

Gear hunting keeps my mind from focusing on negative thoughts and distracts from depression. There are much worse obsessions to have, RIGHT?

To quote Muddy Waters: "I can't be satisfied." (:oD

ps - There's a song called "I'm Nothing but a Gore Hound" but I don't recall who recorded it or the style of rock music (I'm thinking punk or psychobilly).

"Gear hunting keeps my mind from focusing on negative thoughts and distracts from depression."

I'd call that worthwhile in the current era. But, hey...try some charity, too. That'll also make you feel good.

We do contribute a lot to charity, but my wife handles that. The gear hound
thing is my sickness. (;oD

I also confess to being a gear hound.

It happens to be my main hobby.

I just can't pass up a killer deal on good quality gear.

Case in point, I picked up a '94 Fender Jazz V (5 String) Plus Bass last week for $203.99 plus tax at a pawnshop. They were asking

I don't even really play bass, but that was to crazy of deal to pass up.

I have 2 other 4 string basses in my collection, a
'74 Fender Jazz and a '90 MIJ Fender P-Bass.

I guess I just wanted to add something different to the bass mix.

Here's some pics.

We have been packing to move over the past month or so. I went through my storage bld. yesterday and today and I found things I had forgotten I had. I'm renting a 15 ft. Uhaul tomorrow just for my gear at home and my storage bld.

If I like it, and I can afford it, why the hell not?

I'm effectively a shut-in, I don't spend money on anything else past basic "don't die" stuff, and well, I am not getting younger and will never be "well" again.

I don't consider myself a gear hound, but I have tons of gear. I'm gonna have to have a serious talk with one of my personalities, because one of us is delusional...

BF66Prince - Nice!

NOTE: It's not buying so much as that I'm constantly LOOKING at gear online and in stores.

Of course I do buy and trade gear frequently but . . . . (:oD

My hunting days are over. Lack of funds now that I've left the land of overseas big $ paychecks. Priorities have changed, too. But I continue to "shop" on-line and on the pages of VG magazine. There never was a need but it's in my blood.

NOTE: The guitars I bought this year were mostly via trades and trade-ins, I didn't spend much actual money. Same thing with amps.

"The hunt is better than the catch." Motorhead

Yeah, I am a member of the club.

Bought two guitars this year and rescued two nice mod platform guitars from the dumpster (see the Lefty forum) for the price of shipping.

These days Iâm selling very little. Earlier this year I sold off a Celestion G12H I had hanging around. I might have a couple pedals to sell. Dunno. Thinking about it.

Iâm not getting any younger. And Iâm not doing any harm to my financial situation. In fact, Iâm doing all the right things.

And Iâm married to a woman who truly supports my interests out of love.

Cameras, guitars and guns. These three things I enjoy. :-)

I guess sometimes it is more of the hunt than the catch at times.

I'm not really sure what's happening in my part of Texas, but it doesn't seem like it's in touch with the rest of the world.

Just for reference, here's are the deals I've picked up in the last 2 years.

How could I not keep buying guitars?

$500 - '75 Fender Strat
$550 - '81 G & L F-100 II
$230 - '00 Gibson Les Paul Special Lite
$325 - '90 Fender Strat Plus
$435 - '07 Fender '57 AVRI Strat
$438 - '89 Fender Standard Strat
$280 - '07 Fender L.E. "Reverse Headstock" Hendrix Tribute
$600 - '07 Gibson SG-3 L.E. #006
$300 - '03 Epiphone Elite Les Paul Custom
$435 - '01 Gibson Les Paul Jr.
$225 - '94 Fender Jazz V (5 String) Plus Bass ( just picked this up last week)
$300 - '65 Gibson LG-O
$147 - '98 Yamaha LL-11
$500 - '11 Fender Telebration 50th Annv. Tele
$1400 - '83 Gibson ES-335 Dot
$2400 - '63 Gibson ES-330 w/ Bigsby

BF66Prince - Wow, impressive list of hunting trophies!

And some of the prices you paid are just insane.
