The 23 1/2” scale lenght is OK, the tone was fairly even, acoustically it was OK, usable for just sitting around working out stuff or rehearsing. Electrically it was good, feedback if too close to the amp, I was using the Rumble 100.

The bracing was beefed up for the top and string tension. Over all I just felt it was an OK instrument, the strings are interesting it gave me inspiration for building a similar scale lenght bass around them.

I just feel that $700 wasn’t justified, at my economic level. I also feel that short scales like this are better off fretless.

I may build an electric fretless using these strings, adding a bluetooth transmitter and traditional phone plug out. Just so I can practice using one of my bluetooth speakers. I have ordered a TDA7492P 4.0Audio Bluetooth Receiver Digital Amplifier Board 2*50W to build a bass amp, not exactly sure how well it will work, but the board was cheap enough fool around with.

I have played one that is at my local SA a few times. Cool little instrument that sounds great, actually. If it were a couple hundred less $$$ I would buy it.

I’m intrigued, but I’ve sworn off four strings - I can’t cope with swtching back and forth between four and five.

Yeah Jeff, that’s my feeling too, if it was around $300 I’d be all over it.

I have one 5 string, a fairly high quality all Warmoth and EMG, I used it for a couple of years but it’s just collecting dust now. I use all my other basses with the exception of my first, a 1964-65 Framus, it was never a great instrument, used ot right up until 1980 when I purchased the Precision Special.
