We(my wife is the lead singer)needed a break after ten solid years running our previous band. Then we started looking for new members and had a few false starts with various people until we found an experienced and talented lineup of genuinely nice, hard-working people. Their CVs are very impressive, including albums, a PhD in music, headline tours, music production credits with the BBC and other big companies and some collaborations with the great and the good of the music world, but I see no egos so far. Tonight we head off to the Yorkshire countryside to a very smart country house hotel for our first gig, a private function. We're a bit nervous, but well-prepared (I think). No pictures yet, no recordings, no website but I'll tell you how it goes.

Sounds like you found some good people. Good luck with the new lineup.

Thanks all. The gig went well, though as a first outing it took much longer than usual to set up and pack away, as we knew it would. I reflected on that as I unloaded back home at 3.00am. The gig was a 50th wedding anniversary party and the family had booked the whole hotel, so it was a good atmosphere. The opening song was unusual - a gipsy jazz version of All of Me featuring our drummer on viola and the keys player on the kit with brushes. We won`t always open with that but it seemed appropriate. I`ve had four hours sleep but am enjoying that wrecked but happy feeling, I`ve missed it. Time for more coffee.
