I'd like to replace a n old, cracked handle strap with a similar brown leather stitched handle but can't seem to find one. Any known sources for a quality replacement? (Approx 7" ctr to ctr.)

Might be able to fit one of these from AES.

The Peavey handle has a stamped steel loop sewn into each end of the leather. Each loop slides in its corresponding anchor that's screwed to the top of the cabinet.

Send an email to Peavey here: parts@peavey.com, and describe the handle you need. They'll send you a price. They're not expensive.

The handle anchors are mounted via a screw that is inserted into the anchor from the interior of the cabinet. This means you have to pull the chassis to remove the old handle hardware and install the new stuff.

FYI: "That strap is on back order until mid Nov."
Thank you,
Shannon, Peavey Parts

No other info - price, how to order, etc.
Weird, but at least it should be available soon.
Hi archiestone--thanks for your thread, my Peavey Classic 30, an old-style one that I acquired used, also has a rotten handle; I made a short-term, partial fix with glue.

Incidentally, I was recently in a guitar shop in NYC; they used a 30 (great sounding!) to demonstrate very expensive guitars--but it also had a crumbling leather (pleather?) handle! I think there's a design flaw.

Do you know if the replacement handles are brown(partially?) leather like the originals? I saw some Peavey handles on Ebay that looked like black rubber.

My reply from Shannon reveals that the strap is not actual leather. Maybe I'll invest $30 for a custom leather one that won't fail...hmmm

"33333007- HANDLE, VINYL, WALNUT BRN
These are on back order until mid Nov.
Thank you,
Shannon
Peavey Parts"
"The Peavey handle has a stamped steel loop sewn into each end of the leather. Each loop slides in its corresponding anchor that's screwed to the top of the cabinet."

Hey, Peegoo, do you know if the metal loops can be removed from the anchors and slipped out of the handle and into the ends of a new sewn handle? Thanks

[Update:] I found an image of the Peavey handle assembly, and the metal loops are closed, so therefore can't be slipped into the ends of the handle. I've written Brookwood Leather, which Pinetree referenced above, to see if I could send Bob the loops to insert into the handle before he sews it. I'll let you know what I find out.

[Update 2:] Bob replied same day..."If the handle is made around the loops I need you to send me the old handle. That style, made around the loops is $45. You can choose between natural or darkened edges and natural or brown stitching. Examples are on the website handles page".

So the only decision is, buy a cheap vinyl replacement for a low-cost amp that won't be carted around much. Or a luxurious leather upgrade with aesthetic appeal and better performance for 4x the price.

tiller2 - Great info, thanks.
Did Shannon @ PV mention a price + shipping for the vinyl replacement? (or does anyone know what these run?)

No price, but the official Peavey replacement listed on Reverb ("sold") was $10 plus $5 shipping for handle with chrome posts. That's probably about it.
