I bought a new American Special Strat on Friday (oly white with maple fretboard) and it came with a certificate of authenticity from Fender.

Is this something that Fender just started doing this year? Previously, such certificate only came with CS guitars.

ps - I had an empty Fender "FDP" case and had to fill it, right? (:oD But seriously, I've be jonesing for one of these since I sold my Ultra Bright Sounding White 70's Classic Strat.

Yes, the MIA guitars now come with a coa. They are styled a bit less fancy (no date, no signature) than the CS ones and only feature model number and serial number but it´s a nice addition, I think!

5Strats, Congrats on with the American Special Strat. I have a Candy Apple Red one. They are cool guitars.

supersonic - Thanks for confirming this.

Modal Magic - I love the light satin finish on the maple fretboard. You can actually feel the wood.

Therealfrogman - The pickguard is a standard issue 3-ply white.

Leftee - Those Strats come with dental floss strings, right? (;oD

Pure nickel? I though it would be titanium or some material dentists use to make crowns? (;oD
