Catching the Bucs/Pats game.
Not bad for a rookie, even if he is a stinkin, Cowgirl, Poke, Chip.

Talks a little too much, he'll probably figure that out though, hopefully.

But anything's better than that blowhard Phil Simms though..

Romo has great insight. His delivery is nails in a chalkboard.

Yeah, Romo certainly has potential. He knows the game for sure, but man, I've seen him talk right over the play-by-play guy about 25 times in the games he's done. Gotta keep that under control.

I don't think he is doing too bad. He also seems to have a great personality as well. I'm sure he will get much better at it.

He certainly knows the game inside and out but needs some work on his voice and articulation. I enjoyed some of his insight last night.

I noticed Romo in the announcer booth before I realized it was Romo.

One of those epiphany deals where I instantly realized this guy was bringing something different to the game. Detail of the game through a lens I hadn't usually heard.

For me though football has been little more than back ground noise in the garage while I work on projects. Most of my closer attention is when I look up to see a replay of some big play or something.

I've certainly not tried to critic his performance as an announcer beyond my initial surprise impression mentioned above.

THAT...IS...RIGHT!

I tend to REALLY enjoy commentators that have played the game. Collinsworth, Theisman, Gifford, Madden, etc.
Many people can't stand Collinsworth or Theisman...I don't understand why - they're great at what they do and give great insight.

The one exception to that (for me) would be Tim McCarver (ex baseball player). I'm not sure he's even broadcasting anymore, but wow.
If I didn't know who he was, I would assume that he never played the game. He was wrong about sooooo many things.

Yes, I was going to post on this as well. I caught him on a weekend game. I was just hearing the audio at first without knowing who it was. I thought, who is this enthusiastic color guy?

Anyway, he is different, but great IMHO.

But I liked Troy as a player and as a color guy.
Kind of opposite styles.....as both.

Since he's new at it I would say he's just pressing a bit too much...he'll find his comfort level soon enough..or get canned...lol..but he's better than Phil Simms!

I noticed that Collinsworth was very awkward at first, nervous maybe, pressing a bit...but he's settled in quite nicely. He and Al Michaels make a good duo

Just be thankful NBC doesn't put Bob Costas in the booth....you can hear the sound of millions of remote controls changing the station.

Got to say. I like him.

And that is the real surpise. Didn't think I would. Adds good info on today's game. Nice to have someone that is close to the game as Romo. As he just left.
He's doing alright, and brings an air of authenticity to the analysis. His use of play names and such can get bewildering, but not a one of them have ever seemed to be as enthusiastic, nor informed.

Except for the uniform he wore, I've always liked him. The sound of his voice is grating especially when he gets excited. But he's very good, and will get better, and he's not getting canned anytime soon, they installed him in the No. 1 booth. He and Jim were friends and do have a chemistry, and that shows. Jim seems to defer a bit because of Tony's ability to predict the play.

That ability may or should be toned down. It's like telling you who the winner is before the game is done.
