"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
Oct 5th, 2017 06:06 PM

All too often I get awoken by a robocall generated in a time zone 3 hours different than mine or by an actual person trying to sell me something/ seeking a donation.

It happened, again, this morning ... with one exception.

Usually, saying "I don't know where you're calling from, but it's 7:00 A.M.,here" isn't enough of a "hint" to the caller and he/she continues on with the scripted spiel.

Today, without my even mentioning the fact the call had woken me, the calling party ACTUALLY APOLOGIZED for (evidently) having the wrong number in her records and said she would remove it immediately.

As proper as that was, I hope her boss doesn't hear a recording of the conversation because she'll probably get fired ... for doing the right thing !!

(Am I being too jaded, here? lol)

About as ordinary as you can get.

We also get way too many of these calls. They are pretty good disguising it as a "live" call but it is a recording. I've tried everything to stop it but they keep coming.

The only way to get them to stop..is to stop answering if you don't know the number.

If they get a pickup, they keep calling.

I stopped answering calls I didn't know a few months back.

I no longer get any.

The latest survey from Optimum Harvard Whazzit Group, reveals that in the history of the world, no one has ever purchased any product or service offered by these phone jockeys.

Turns out these poor souls are actually calling from Telemarketer Central in Hell, and actually making sales is irrelevant. The intent is for them to be cursed and shouted at for all eternity by those without Caller ID.

I shut off the ringer on my phone once I go to bed. During the day, if I don't recognize the call, it goes to voicemail. If it's important they will leave a message.

It's gotten to the point with me where if I don't recognize the number, I just flip my finger to the left to allow the caller to leave a message or hang up.
I don't get random calls too early or too late...yet.

I found a solution that works for me. The on-line software doesn't work with my provider. I bought a new piece of hardware . I actually got it on QVC or one of its clones for about $20 cheaper. I've had it about a week and it seems to work great.

Check out nomorobo. It's free for a landline and blocks lots of spam calls. My phone barely rings now which is awesome.

Yes, but nomorobo does not work with my telephone provider.
