Took one to the ribs yesterday, through a tee shirt. About 3 inches below the right moob. Holy cripes, aside from the pain, the hole is substantial. I have a 3 inch radius red welt that itches like mad.

Ice and Benadryl cream. Any other suggestions?

Get a prescription for Hydrocortisone cream 2.5%.

I have extreme sensitivity to insect stings/bites, not an allergy in my estimation because the only issue is huge red welts like what you are describing. Even (especially?) just mosquito bites cause this reaction in me.

I went to the dermatologist and they gave me a prescription strength hydrocortisone product called Pramosone. It’s amazing. Itchy welts that would previously last for weeks are now flattened out and less itchy within a day, and gone completely in a week.

Of course, it requires s prescription so it’s not an easy fix, you need to see a doctor. But if you have to go that route, I highly recommend this stuff. No idea if it works on a wasp sting, but the principle being the same, I’d give it a whirl.

“Get a prescription for Hydrocortisone cream 2.5%.”

Seconded, the cream I referred to above is a 2.5% hydrocortisone combined with a topical anesthetic.

Thanks for the recommendation. I used my medical portal to my primary care physician and asked for an RX. We'll see if they make me come in. I got nailed in the back last year by one of these bastiges. Despite thinking to the contrary, the stinger stayed in there and my wife pulled it out about a month later. This is war.

Ouch! I'm extremely sensitive to insect and spider bites/sting as well. Not fun for sure.

Doc wouldn't prescribe the 2.5% Hydrocortisone without an office visit, suggested I use OTC 1% and claritin. Little relief.

FWIW, it’s good stuff and a tube will last you for a long time. It’s worth the visit if you need it (and are covered).

Sorry to hear this, Larry. I took one of these reddish paper wasps right on the inner side of my bicep a couple years back and over the course of a few days my arm swelled and swelled until I could hardly move it without being in pain. It was awful. I want a bee suit so I can kill these things on the weekends for fun. Absolutely a PITA.

Feel better.

A wasp got me in the armpit last week. If you find a nest, inground, in a hive or on a surface, I found the easiest and safest way to remove them is use a shop vac and suck the bugs in over an hour or two. I've used this method successfully for years at the picnic grounds.

An inch of water in the vac with some dish detergent added will make sure the wasps are dead too.

drop a bass guitar on your little toe.
You'll forget the insect bite immediately.

ask me how I know...
"suck the bugs in over an hour or two"

You just place it near the nest and leave it running?
