But he ain't no Bill Withers either...

The only reason I know about Bill Withers is because the record club sent me one of his albums when I was a little kid, I ordered an Archies record but they were out.

My mom would let us order something from KTEL or whatever it was called...Columbia? Cant remember, I thought this song was Bill Withers but I sit corrected.

Love Joe Tex!
Sadly today's he's been all but forgotten. There's a ton of great songs released by him, from Sam Cooke style ballads to James Brown style funk.

Oh I remember Joe Tex, recorded often in Muscle Shoals, and the hit that I remember best is SKINNY LEGS AND ALL!

I sometimes mixed up Joe Tex and Roy Head. I liked both JT and Roy..

Maybe the best spotlight performance ever on Soul Train. Joe Tex and Damita Jo Freeman in spring 1972!

I had that record back when I was a young'un. My dad wasn't a fan -- and he *really* didn't like Curtis Mayfield.
