I've always wanted a bound neck LP but can't rally justify the expense for a Gibson since I'm a bass player. Today's Musicians Friend SDOTD is a limited edition (whatever that means) Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro in wine red for $319 shipped.

I'm impressed enough with my recent Epi 339 Pro that I went ahead and jumped on it - my guitarist said he'll take it for his son if I don't care for it.

Passing it on...

I am tempted. I gave my LP Jr to my big brother as a spur of the moment gift a couple of years ago. It was TV yellow but had one of those Zebra HB's in it. I think it was a GC special run but it was a rock and roll guitar.

Edited because I really meant to post this in another thread.... oy

I got one in gold last year from Guitar Center for $328. It's a great guitar, I use it in places I don't want to take my R8. The pickups are really impressive also.

I really dig my Epi ES-335 Pro. I'd be tempted if it were not for the wine red finish.

Larry, they seem to put this one on regular SDOTD rotation in different colors. Keep an eye out!

HD
You're right! Last week they had same/same, but on Desert Burst. Would have preferred to have the Cherry one, but oh well.

One question tho', these LE's don't have the tone boost knob. Significant?

The impression I got was that this one had traditional controls - I think some of the Epi LPs have active tone requiring a battery. Or did I order the wrong thing? If that's the case, my guitarist's son is going to be a happy boy - I am hoping for passive.

If they put a battery in mine, I haven't found it yet.
But, on the other hand, I've had mine for over a year and didn't know it had push/pull volume pots to split the coils, until I read the description today! Doh!!!

It arrived today along with one of the MF brand ABS cases. I only had a few minutes to check it out here at work, but first impressions are favorable. I wasn't really expecting the back, sides and neck shaft to be a fairly raw brown finish, but I think it will work out.
