Hello...

What is the best tube to put into a new BK Butler Tube Driver with the bias mod? I'm looking for a smoother tone, not raspy or real fuzzy...

Thanks,

MG

You might try a 12AU7...

w

Why do I keep fixing things that work?

I was thinking that the 12AU7 might be a good choice also but was also thinking that a 12AT7 might also be considered for its lower gain while maintaining a good voltage to the circuit components. I think it would still give him some hair and not go too dark in tone.
It is nice to be able to change out tubes on a distortion pedal whereas most of the time we are stuck with whatever sound a certain pedal produces.
So in my thinking, a 12AU7 would be the greatest reduction to the circuit and all other 12A- family members would offer different shades of gain.
That's gotta be a cool but fun pedal to own.
Not to second guess Willie's suggestions, EVER, but was wondering if the 12AT7 might be a good choice also.
Best regards, Always!
Woody
