...on a Gretsch Streamliner. I've been wanting another semi-hollow since I sold my Heritage 535 (like an idiot). I tried an Epi Dot a few years ago but it was a tone turd.

I snagged the Gretsch for $400 ($20 in Paypal credit) + $45 shipping. It includes a case and strap ($800 total value).

In the reviews I've read, the Streamliner sounds more like a 335 than a traditional Gretsch but I'm okay with that.

Review to follow...

The quality of the current-production MIC Electromatics is astoundingly good. You're gonna like it.

The most common complaint about these is the "mudbucker" pickups. These are a full size sorta-cosmetic-copy of a Filtertron pickup that usually are fairly dark sounding. I've heard some that do sound good, but most are pretty dismal. The good news is you have plenty of choices for standard-size replacements.

I've modded a few of these by making adapter plates and installing TV Jones FTs in 'em with really great results.

No reason why that shouldn't sound a bit like a 335 - what a nice looking guitar.

It arrived today and I was able to take it for a spin and then play it at church tonight. I'm really impressed. The workmanship is great and the setup needed no adjustments. I'm pleased that the neck is slightly wider than typical SHB's. I like that.

The tones are between a 335 and Gretsch and well-balanced. The neck pup could've been a little more woody for my tastes but it still sounds very...ummm...neckish.

This guitar is really a great find and the last piece missing from my collection.

Can't see you photo - don't know whether that's because I've abandoned my Photobucket account or you've not become a "paying member" for yours. (This is happening with more and more images on the internet - they're just not there anymore because Photobucket has locked them up.)

Thanks for the review... very tempting...although I surely don't need another semi-hollow!

Stupid Photobucket!!! Tell me another hosting site and I'll repost the pic. Someone posted one recently but I don't recall the site.

That is totally sweet! Did you order this from the U.K. site? Because I had looked at the state side offerings and couldn't even get close to the price mentioned there, especially with a case added.
Still a great looking guitar and would be perfect for a lot of the songs that we have added to our set list. Love the color and would need one that isn't backwards. Lol Darn Lefties!

Thanks, all!

Cal, I bought it used on eBay. The guy bought it, played it a few times, and then decided guitar wasn't for him. Being a lefty, he marked it cheap to move it. :o)

Rarely, but on occasion! :o)

The one thing I need to fix are the on/off switches that they mislabeled as pots. This should be fun.

I've gigged three times now with this guitar and it's extremely versatile. All three pup positions have a distinct sound. Both pups sound full and woody. It sounds great clean, with mild crunch, and with lead gains. It stays in tune very well even with significant bends.

I am extremely pleased that I snagged it.

Very cool! I used my semi-hollow Yamaha SA1000 for worship music this past Sunday - got several comments after church on the music and my playing. That guitar just shines.

EDITED TO ADD: Relevant songs in our set: Soul On Fire, 10,000 Reasons, My Redeemer Lives (with a kickin' guitar solo!)
