If you can't play good, play loud

I finally got around to replacing the existing EH 6V6's with a matched pair of JJ 6V6's I had bought prbly a year ago for the purpose. My problem was having the time to pull the chassis and adjust bias.
It wasn't as difficult as I had anticipated. I found 34mA and dialed it up to 40.The results really transformed the amp. It went from sounding raspy and edgy to clear and warm.
I was so encouraged I pulled the Bandmaster VM chassis and biased it as well. That seemed to warm it up, but not as dramatically as the SCXD.

My SCXD sounded so much better to me as well after I did the same thing. My SCXD is my amp I play at home. It doesn't matter which guitar I use, I can get a great sound. I did gig with it for a while and have considered using it again but it would be difficult to replace my Mustang. I have taken it to use as a backup amp. It definitely is one of my favorite amps.

It has been the perfect gigging amp for me at the smaller cubs. That 10" speaker really cuts through the mix.
