Here's one for ya.

I have a stripped hex-hole in one of the screws in one of the saddles on my '83 Strat. I'd like to replace the screw.

This is one with a Fender Freeflyte tremolo.

Anybody know what size hex screw I should buy as a replacement? Or could you send me to the right place to find the answer?

(Google was not my friend on this one.)

Thanks!

If not rusted in place and you can extract the screw, a good industrial hardware store should be able to get you going. I've only worked on one of those Dan Smith Strat units in my lifetime and don't remember what size they are.

It's prolly a 4/40 screw with a .050 hex but I have no idea as to length.

If you can't find the screw at a hardware find a nut that fits the thread to confirm size then measure the length and order your hardware online. You may have to buy a box of 50 or pay the StewMac piper pricewise but this is very doable.

It very well may be the same as another Fender saddle set screw, I just don't remember.

The Freeflyte is an odd duck.

It looks like this site carries both the V tip and the U tip risers for the Free Flyte tremolo system.
