What's up guys! I don't know if this topic already gone away. But, anyway, just wanna know about users opinions over the Blues Deluxe or the Hot Rod Deluxe III. I'm looking for a SRV/Hendrix/John Mayer kinda clean sound. For the drive, i've got my stompboxes so that's not a problem.

What do you guys think?

Greetings from Brazil!

Hi BluesBrazil!

Very generally speaking - the Hotrod Deluxe is a bit cleaner/tighter, while the Blues Deluxe sounds a bit mellower/sweeter overall.
Both are plenty loud, but both will break-up around half-way up on the volume-knob.
I´d make a slight nod towards the HrDeluxe - as it´s a bit more versatile. I happen to find the drive/more-drive feature very useful!

cheers - C.

Thank's a lot Carsten!
I've heard that the Hot Rod it's more versatile. But, here in my city, there's no way I can test both side by side.
I'm in love with that tweed finish on the Blues Deluxe. Just heard some guys playing some Hendrix and SRV with it, and made me think that would be a great choice.
About the drive channel, I've got a tube screamer and a Marshall Blues Breaker I, so will not be a problem lol

I've had both and agree with the OPs input about the hrdx being somewhat tighter. But it's not by miles, maybe inches.

If I had to chose I would prefer the blues deluxe as I think the hr is kind of ice pickey . The bdx does have a more mellowed tone and I found the od on it more compatible with the tubescreamer if you wanted a wee bit more hair on the drive.

The blues deluxe definitely lives up to its name in that it is more blues friendly than the hrdx. If you are using stomp boxes my advice is find the clean sound you want in an amp first , then color your tone with whatever stomp boxes you want. Also don't let cosmetics of the amp be the determining factor. If you aren't pleased with the tone those things will be forgotten quickly.

With current speaker choices in both, I'd get a BD.

Yes! I'm not interested in changing speaker's right away cause here in Brazil, it's too expensive. So, if I could get a good overall amp (between the Blues Deluxe Reissue and the Hot Rod Deluxe 3) that I can get that SRV/Hendrix clean/slight overdriven sound, without any mod, just using my pedals. I'd be in heaven hahaha
