If you can't play good, play loud

A few years ago, I got a used SCXD with the intention of upgrading to a 12" speaker and did so immediately, so I never spent much time with the OE 10" speaker. But looking over my amp selection these days, I'm wondering if there's a slot in my sonic spectrum for the tighter tones of a 10" speaker. Although the OE speaker is kind of boxy, maybe a decent aftermarket 10" speaker would cure that.
Anyone else go back to a smaller speaker in their SCXD?

I never put a 12 " In my Princeton Reverb, but I've had two 12" amps. I really like the 10" amps...the 12's are my favs though.

Sorry, couldn't answer your question.

I tried it but went back to a 10" speaker. I'm using a Jensen C10R. To me the 10 just works better with this amp.

I thought I'd end up with that resonance similar to a DRRI, or maybe a Blue Jr, and although the SCXD is more full with the 12", it's different from what I expected. After playing with the stock 10" again I'm appreciating the tightness that everyone digs about it, and probably the Princeton as well.

Like Ryder, I experimented with a Princeton and a !2" (albeit in an external cab). Didn't do anything for me, I went back to the stock 10" I think it strongly depends on the amp.

I went to 12" in my SCXD several years ago, and would never go back. It sounds as good as my DRRI, but easier to transport.

My SCXD-12 has a certain quality to it that I like, but the OE 10" imparts it's own tone as well. I'm torn, especially where I've invested in the speaker and cabinet for it.
