Received a new G5422T in orange from Sweetwater today! Nice Valentineâs present to myself! Got the Gretsch case as well. The case is made by TKL and is a decent medium duty hardcase. The guitar is flawless as far as I can tell. Wonât be able to play it much right away. Too busy at work and tonight is Valentineâs Day with my honey and she wonât stand for being replaced by a hollowbody! So a visual is all I could do. I did snap an iPhone picture and uploaded it during break. About $930 for the guitar & case.

Sweet purchase! You're gonna love it. I have the same model in Natural with gold hardware, a 2015 model with the gravestone fretboard markers and "Electromatic" branding on the headstock. Otherwise identical to yours.

I have three Electromatics (all Korean) and two Professional Series (Japan) Gretsch guitars and am thoroughly impressed with both lines.

Enjoy!

I note that FDP sponsor Sweetwater has marked the MIK Electromatic center block/5655 (no f-holes, smaller body) down to $700...

Malcolm

Except for the Gretsch USA Custom Shop masterbuilt guitars, all others are built in either Japan, Korea, or China.

The Professional Series (top end catalogued models) are built in the Terada factory in Japan (most of them, anyway).

The more expensive Electromatics are built in Korea. The lower level Electromatics and the Streamliner series guitars are built in China.

Stephen Stern runs the Gretsch Custom Shop here in the USA. I think they are headquartered in Corona, California, with FMIC.
professor

I bought one of those G5655T-CB guitars in black just last year. Did not mind paying the standard $850 at the time as the quality is really top notch. $699 for this guitar now is a real steal!

I had to remove the black pickguard on mine, though, and replaced it with a stock 6128-1962 guard in silver metallic. Looks now like a proper Gretsch!

Good taste! (Just like mine!)

I saw on another forum a guy had one of these and swapped out the silver pg for a gold one, and also gold p/u surrounds. It really looked sweet. I can't find anywhere to buy that stuff tho. Maybe the repair guy at GC can order them.

I didn't check ebay yet. I thought about making the pickguard. I suppose I could make a clear one, make a decal for the logo (I've made them for a partscaster) and spray gold. The p/u surrounds look like you could sand off the paint from the undersides a day repaint.
But then again, I've become quite lazy.

Thanks Peegoo for reminding me of Ebay. Got some on the way. Kinda pricey, but hey, it's a cheap vice.
