Can anyone give me a run down on how these worked? I'm considering buying an Ultra but I am worried about being unable to adjust the sting height and intonation. I understand that you have to cut the ball off the string end and lock it in with an allen key - etc etc. Looks like Fender dropped this bridge because it didn't work - or did it work and it was just too complicated?

I have a 90's Fender Deluxe Strat with an original Floyd Rose system. I would assume the II version is very similar.<br /> <br /> As you state, you cut the ball ends off the strings and lock them in the bridge saddles. You can't adjust individual string height. Setting the intonation (and changing strings) can be a challenge.<br /> <br /> You can make subtle tuning adjustments with the micro tuners on the bridge, but have to unlock the nut Allen bolts to tune and change strings.

Back in the day I had a Kramer (I know... right!?!?!) and I used to run the ball ends through the tuners.<br /> <br /> I don't remember why. Probably because it was different.

Cut ball/Allen key = standard operating procedure for Floyds.<br /> <br />

I guess I was stringing that guitar right-handed.
