So, so you think you can tell.

Anybody know if those are really 57/62 pups?

They say they have 3 American Vintage Strat Single-Coil Alnico 5 Pickups. Is that the same thing? I keep hearing people calling them 57/62s.

Will probably try 69s in the N and M and a SSL 5 in the bridge one day anyway. But not right away.

Since I'm sort of a Gilmorish freak.

Got an older one, in Fiesta Red. Dob't think the pups are 57/62's, tho'.

Thanks Malcolm, i figured if they were 57/62s they would say so. Best i can find so far, is they may be American standard pups.

It's interesting that MF and GC say the pups are 57/62 but no mention of a solid steel block. Wonder if they're selling the same guitars or if Sweetwaters are different.

Going to ask my Sweetwater rep if there's a difference in the ones they are selling or not.

Steel block is important to me.

Mine has a big tremelo block but magnet doesnt stick to it. So not a steel block.

FWIW, they say on the website that the middle pup is reverse wound. 57/62's do not have a reverse wound middle pup.

Thanks, looks like Sweetwater maybe selling different CP 50s than the others. If not, I'm going to find out from my rep today. Heard of some complaints about the Zinc blocks. Never any about the pups though.

MF is claiming theirs has 57/62s with a reverse wound middle.

I emailed my sweetwater dude and asked him a few questions.

You know Purple Valley ...I never thought about that. On the you tube reviews they say 57/62s and kind of rave on that. Some websites have them listed as american vintage single coils. Some even say custom shop 57/62s. So I dont know but they sure are sweet

It makes sense that they are essentially 57/62's with a variation--the reverse middle. For whatever reason, Fender has always described them as American Vintage pickups.

Here's what i got back from Sweetwater...

All of the information we have comes direct from the manufacturer. My system shows these to be solid steel bridges and vintage pickups with Alnico 5 pole pieces, so that's what I would go with :)

All the reviews i've seen on these guitars seem to be pretty good for the price. Shouldn't be too much to worry about anyway.

Callaham seems to have the cure if i'm not happy with the block/bridge area.

Everyone seems to love the pups whatever they want to call them.

I guess i should have went to the Fender link to start with, but it still doesn't answer the block question. Answers the PUP question though.

With my Classic series 50's Strat being a favorite guitar I can only imagine how much better a Classic Player would be.

Ok ya'll lol! It's really nice, but i have only two bad things to say about it and they are very minor.

Pick guard seems to be cheap, but was expecting that. Switch plastic knob is horrible.

Besides that it's a keeper, PUPs are friggen unreal. Neck is beautiful. Haven't changed the strings yet, came with Fender 10s and they sound real nice.

Stays in tune great! At least for the 3 hrs I've played it so far.

Ok... Just for the record, the CP 50s do not come with a steel block. Magnet will not stick to mine. The guitar sounds great, but don't have another with the steel block to compare it to.
