"Everywhere I look, I see guitars..."

Well, NAMM has come and gone, a few companies have come out with some new gear that might be tempting some of us...

...are there any lefty guitar offerings that grabbed you? Maybe something you WISH they would make?

There are a few that interest me...

2017 Gibson SG Standard T - This SG looks interesting to me for two reasons - the slim taper neck and the 57 Classic pickups. My previous SG had the thicker neck - not bad, but kinda clubby. Also I had removed a set of EMG's from it and put in a pair of Matthew Larrivee's humbuckers in it - they sound great in the Larrivee RS-4, but for some reason they always sounded thin and anemic in the SG. I think the 57's would correct that. And $1299 new isn't a bad price for a standard Gibson. Available in three finishes, too.

Professional Strat and Tele - I was seriously looking at the Tele (with it's "new" vintage style bridge), but the more I play my two current "Tele's," the more I realize I'm not a Tele player. And the Strat looks interesting, but I have 3 Warmoth Strats that keep me covered there.

Martin - They've come out with some interesting new guitars this year, but they're all "custom shop" priced - many over $5K! The new 00-18 looks kinda cool, but I don't "need" another hog guitar that size (have a '92 Larrivee OM-05 that is wonderful).

I'm thinking about a 0000 size Martin - either the M-36 (with 3 piece rosewood back like my D-35) or a custom 0000 with hog body and D-18 neck and trim appointments. No idea what that would cost me, but probably between $2500-3000 out the shop door...

Larrivee - it's their 50th Anniversary this year, so they've come out with a 50th model to celebrate. MSRP is $7500, though, so out of my price range. You can order some 50th Anniversary appointments on other Larrivees for a $1500 MSRP upcharge. I thought about it, but for that price I can buy a "vintage" Larrivee and have a "broken in" guitar that already sounds incredible...with nice old wood, too.

Anyone else looking, dreaming, drooling?

I sold that SG and now regret that.

I don't really have anything on my list. I don't think I even have a list. I would like a low-watt tube head.

Wish list

Lefty Firebird and a Gibson double cut with P90's in tv yellow.

Gibson were going to do a firebird and some stores in the UK were even pre-selling them and they canned it

if i found one of the above s/h i'd probably jump on it

other than that wouldn't mind an OM style acoustic but i don't need or want anything now

other than considering a doing a 5E3 tweed deluxe build myself or if i can swing it a brownface vibroverb clone.

My GAS is in check for now, unless I find a deal on a lefty parlor or dreadnought, or a telecaster, or a good tube amp, or a ..........
Never mind.

I'd like to see Fender do a single coil P-bass/Tele-bass re-issue in a true lefty. Even something in the Squier line would be acceptable.

I've got a new custom 000 12 fret coming in a few weeks and I'm leaning towards picking up a Collings 290 SC. I'll need to move a few acoustics to keep everyone happy here on the home front.

"I'll need to move a few acoustics to keep everyone happy here on the home front."

Same here - and mostly because I don't have time to give them all the attention they deserve. And I just found an almost 40 year old (from '79) Larrivee L-19 acoustic - bought it for only $1000 because it needs a neck reset, plus I'm having the luthier convert it to a lefty for me...probably won't have it for a couple months yet, he's pretty backlogged with work.

I'm teetering on GAS - as witnessed in my other thread. And I have this beast of a 100w head I'm trying to move along. It's way awesome but it's also a monster. In retrospect it might be worth more to me than it's value to anyone else.

It might be time to shop attenuators. ;-)

And, when I modded the amp, I left the cathodyne phase inverter intact. The meaning of that jargon? It can be turned back to about 30w output.

I'd like to add a semi or hollowbody someday. I had a Heritage 535 many moons ago but sold it. I'm such a bonehead!

""I'm such a bonehead!""

I am right there with you, Rocky. I had an Epi Dot in cherry red. It was a great guitar. I had to sell it, along with a lot of other gear, during the last recession.

I had a cherry Epi Dot about a decade ago that I bought online. It was a real tone turd. I hear the newer ones are much better.

I coulda helped you out; I just sold an early '90's (Korean made) Epiphone Sheraton.

Nice guitar, but I didn't need it or play it much with my Yamaha SA1000 and Ibanez AM93 around...

I like the AM93, too - the smaller size and beefier neck are two big plusses to me.

I've invested quite a bit in mine recently - my tech put in Gibson '57 Classics with vintage wiring and put a Bigsby on it; now I'm trying to get used to using the Bigsby! But it's a good challenge/learning curve to have.

Love my AM93L! I still need to rewire the pots.
