I have one of the Surf Green ones and it didn't come with locking tuners, although I added a set later.

I bought mine used and it has a G&G case.

What price are they asking for it?

The 2 I was looking at were $1500cdn each, I offered $1200 they both came back at $1300 I passed on both. Then there was one with lipstick pickups again exact same scenario and I passed again.

What I ended up getting is a NOS 1996 AM STD with a tweed case. The previous owner passed away and never touched the guitar. Plastic is still on all the covers, tags all fresh from 96' and the Strat pack all sealed with the term arm yet. Oh yea orange sticker over the term for the spring too.

I bought mine locally, the owner had it posted on Ebay for over $1000 and didn't get any takers, then posted it on Craigslist.

It had been modded with a set of Fender "Fat 50's", Callaham saddles, trem block & trem arm. A G&G tan case.

I managed to talk him down to $725.

Mine is from the 2009 run. From what I've found it was the second time the matching headstock was offered since the '96 MIA offering.

I did some research on the run and found out that Fender did 300 of each (Surf Green, Sonic Blue & Fiesta Red).

Congrats on your find, they are great guitars and the matching headstock is pretty cool.
