I'm replacing the pups and electronics in my MIJ Jazzmaster. It has no sheilding in the cavity. I bought adhesive brass tape for the job. Where should I place the tape?

Cover the bottom and sides of all the routed cavities that house either PUs or wire. Make sure all of the tape connects together electrically, solder if need be, test with a VOM, Connect a ground wire to the shielding from the back of the volume pot.

Like Hammond wrote, make sure the various cavities have continuity with each other.

The back of the pickguard needs to be shielded too (usually with aluminum foil). Best practice is to have the sides of the cavity shielding fold over onto the top of the guitar for 1/4" or so, such that you get good contact between the cavity shielding and the pickguard shielding when the pickguard is screwed down.
