I was told today that Fender has shipped a few of the 75 Townshend Strats. Mine is due to ship this Friday, does anyone know how the serial numbers are being done on these guitars. Are they sequential or are they like some of the past releases where you have no idea what number you have.

Being a huge PT fan, I am very envious. Make sure to give us a review and some pics after she's arrived.

I saw that Gibson is putting out a Pete Townshend Les Paul too...<br /> <br /> I know I might get crucified for this, but I liked Pete's sound with Teles, LP's and SG's way better, I think his Strat sound actually pretty much sucks. The Who tunes just don't sound right to my ear on the rig he uses these days...the Strats just don't have the muscle in my opinion.<br /> <br /> that being said...I own 2 strats and I have no doubts it will be a great guitar.

Another release of the PT Les Paul Deluxe? I did bot know that.<br /> <br /> Let's count 'em up. Two releases of the LP Deluxe, a Custom Shop SG, production SG and the 50th Anniversary SG. A Gibson J200 PT. Ric 1993 and 1994 Plus. A Schecter PT Tele. And now, a PT Signature model Stratocaster.<br /> <br /> Did I leave any out?

Love Pete and the Who. Went to lots of their shows back when they were "just a band" and I was a kid (I'm 66 now). I think my favorite tone of Pete's (I like 'em all) is the SG with P-90s.

urby,<br /> There was a Takamine unofficially known as the "Pete Townshend" model, but I don't think it was ever actually designated as such. I used to own one very similar to it. Not sure if that counts.

Well, I don't know about all the PT guitars but I know mine is on its way. It was very difficult to spend $6,500 on guitar much less one I've never seen. I have ordered a Line 6 Helix and a A/B box. The guy's at Fender and Line 6 have been great. In the end I felt that the Helix's ability to take both signals from the magnetic and acoustic pickups made it the best way to go. The electric side will go to a FRFP cabinet (don't know which one yet) and the acoustic to my Yamaha HS7's. this should sound incredible when both channels are on. My guitar shipped to the music store in Toronto this past Friday. So, I am hoping that I will get it in another 10 day's.

I've been using the Helix since February. You'll love it.<br /> <br /> But I digress...

Funny, PT mainly used a Clapton Strat. What is the PT Strat?<br /> Sounds like a marketing thing.<br /> <br /> Search Youtube for Alan Rogan, PT's guitar tech.

"Funny, PT mainly used a Clapton Strat. What is the PT Strat?<br /> Sounds like a marketing thing."<br /> <br /> It's basically a Clapton Strat with an added Fishman piezo bridge for 'acoustic' playing.<br /> <br /> So, yeah.

You'll know what your serial number is when you get it :o)<br /> <br /> There will be a PT Strat club that pops up on the Webbernet that will allow you to "register" your serial number as well as view others' serial numbers.<br /> <br /> All limited-edition guitars have a similar deal online. It's apparently a popular thing to be in some sort of exclusive club.
