Most of you already know this, but you can order Squiers and Fenders from their websites. The prices listed were always the MAP, same as any other online retailer. But the prices on the Squier site have jumped dramatically. A quick look on Google cache says it happened some time after August 1. Some of the prices now (!)

Affinity Series Telecaster $329.99
Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom $649.99
Vintage Modified Jazzmaster $599.99

The good news is that the prices haven't changed at other retailers - but since the prices have always been the same everywhere, it might mean that the prices there will increase as well any day now. It might be time for me to order a VM Jazzmaster in Sonic Blue....

Looks like they're charging MSRP.

May have gotten blowback from dealers.

Could be an error.

Can email them and ask!

I'm seeing Fender and Jackson prices increased by approximately 10% here in Britain this month.

Thought it might be the Brexit that pushed down the value of GB Pounds.

WOW.

Not too long ago the Affinity Strats and Teles were $99 all day long. I tweaked many of these for lots of kids and they were pretty good guitars.

There was an increase across the board for Squiers a few months back, this one doesn't make any rational sense.

None of the retailers are reflecting it.

I've mentioned this is other threads, but we had a sweeping increase in Fender/Squier products here in June 2015. I think it was something stupid like 20%.

The best way to quantify it is the Classic Vibes now cost approximately what the MIM Fenders used to , and the MIM Fenders are pushing nearly what the MIA Fenders were. The MIA Fenders, well... you get it.

There are still a few honest retailers around that are still selling NOS at or around the old prices, but that will end eventually as their wholesale prices increase for the new stock.

This is all one of the reasons why I was attracted to the 2 G&L's I bought recently. Cost me a 2-3 hundred bucks less on each guitar than going with Squiers.

Market varies radically between US and Australia.

The import G&Ls cost typically what the MIMs cost here.

"...
Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom $649.99
..."

That price shocked me. So I checked the "actual street price" at Musician's Friend via the FDP link, $449.99.

Even the Fender site now has them at street.

Likely a momentary glitch or listing them at MRSP for a minute for some reason mere mortals don't understand.
