I have a Pj bass that has twangier round sounding E and A strings (I like this) and the D and G strings get real mid-rangey nasal sounding (don't like it so much). Has anyone else experienced this?

I notice it when both pups are cranked all the way with my tone know turned down almost half way.

If I turn the neck pup completely down and have the bridge pup cranked- all the strings have that same nasally tone. If I turn the bridge completely down and crank the neck- I get a pretty fat sound but somewhat nasally.

I don't think my pickup settings are out of whack- could that be it?

Everything is stock.

I'd adjust pickup height first, it's free.

Change strings past that.
