Great price for a spruce and maple jumbo.

I have played several and hated them all. Laminate top guitars sound "tinny," and I've noticed a lot of better jumbos also not sounding right. Every once in a while, a good one comes along, but overall they lack the power and richness of a good acoustic.

I'd pass on one and snatch up a Yamaha FG800D SDB.

I've had one for maybe 10 years. Made in Korea, I bought it used, so no idea how old it is. It looks great, build quality is excellent, it plays better than a lot of my more expensive acoustics, and it sounds as near to a J200 as I could afford at the time. I've also recorded with it, with decent results. I would certainly keep it over my Gibson J180 EC.

From my reading of the specs -- the EJ200 cutaway model has a solid spruce top -- the lower priced "artist" model -- no cutaway and electronics -- has the laminated top.

Here's an alternative - solid Engleman spruce top - nice flamed back and sides.

More pricey than the Epi but still in the realm of possibility.

Anyone know these?

The Sierra Tahoe is an off brand, an unknown. I wouldn't invest that much. Too risky. Maybe if you found a used one - should be able to pick it up for $200 or so...

Jimmy, I did a set up on one of the cutaways a couple weeks ago. Very nice guitar for the money IMO. I think it would open up a bit tone wise with some play as the top sounded a bit tight.

Over all the fit and finish was excellent however the inlay work was not quite as nice as I would have hoped......still for a $400 jumbo very nice.
