I'm finally thinking about getting locking tuners for my '74 tele deluxe. I'm not stuck on brand, etc. All I care about is that they work well, are easy to install and have a chrome finish.<br /> <br /> Will any of them do or do I need a specific model/set for inline 6 for a 70's Tele Deluxe?<br /> <br />

Looks like Sperzels are "out" because they have a single locking pin and the original Fenders have the dual pins?

I also like the Kluson's but I was hoping to go locking on this one.<br />

If you are trying for a drop in without drilling the headstock these should work.

I didn't know they made vintage style lockers. Alas I need the more modern drop ins like Hammond referred. Thanks guys.

I use vintage Klusons on about everything. No locking tuners on any of my 45 guitars. Haven't need them in all the years I've played.

I have a '78 Deluxe and it has the "F" head with 2 pins that hold it in place from the back of the headstock. I have a set of German-made locking and staggered Schallers on my American Std Strat neck that I am thinking of also getting for my Deluxe. They should drop right in with no drilling, and the stagger helps with keeping a consistent break-angle between the nut and the machine head. The tuning ratio is a nice, slow 1:16. I included a link from the Schaller site. They come in a variety of nice finishes but it makes sense to stick with the same looks as the originals (chrome?). Although satin looks great. Or you could get a similar design with an "F" on the back instead of a "S" from Fender. Not sure where they are made. Schallers are from Germany.

Got the Fenders on all mine. First mod I do. They make string change a breeze, especially during a gig. Stabilizes the string more. My ES-339 also came with them.
