The older the violin

the sweeter the music.

I've been after one of these for a few years now, and finally found one. It's a 1993 Alvarez Yairi AY-20, kind of scarce as they only made them for a few years in the early '90s.

Cedar top, walnut b/s, maple binding, rosewood fretboard and bridge. Top notch woods all around, the cedar is about the tightest grain I've ever seen. The maple binding is cool, and really sets off the walnut.

I've always been a dreadnought guy, but I am liking this smaller body.

Sorry for the crappy photo, but it shows both my Yairis, my old DY-74 and the new one.

Both are beautiful instruments.

Nice guitars!

My wife loves her Yairi. I forget the model, possibly WY1.

Thanks, fellas.

If I were gigging a lot in an acoustic setting I'd have a WY1. Never played or heard one, but I hear they sound great plugged in. Lots of wood variations, too.
