A warning to those who lust. Back in '09 I impulse-bought a NOS 2000 Fessler-built Fender Robben Ford Elite off Ebay. Over time I just didn't bond with the guitar and last year in an effort to raise some funds for a new furnace decided I'd let it go. YIKE-A-ROONEYS, did I take a beating on resale. Not sure why but Custom Shop Robbens, particularly the Elites just don't sell any more. Was happy to recoup 50% of my investment to get rid of it. Oddly, it seems the earlier Japanese-made spruce top Robbens still sell. Glad I kept mine! ;-)

Yeah, this is a problem with many low-production guitars that are otherwise fantastic tonemonsters. About the only folks that pay premium $$ are collectors. Otherwise--you get soaked on resale.

I should think that few really expensive vintage guitars today are bought by players.
