My local dealer has one of these on the way. Looks pretty cool. I've been eyeing Electromatics for a while - this one deserves a good look, I think.

Kind of a Steelers/Pirates edition Gretsch!

Bump.

No interest? I don't usually care much for black guitars, but I like this one.

For those of you who have Gretsches with the blacktop filtertrons, how do you like them? I'm thinking if they don't fit the bill, TV Jones pups are a possibility.

Looks cool to me. This Ltd. Ed G5422T would look even cooler with a Steelers logo!

What a beauty! I'm a sucker for gold hardware and that black body really makes it gleam. Congrats!

I would think those fatter F-holes would make a pup swap easier if it should come to that. I did one on a 335 once and access to the body cavity on that was pretty cramped for my big fingers.

Enjoy!

Blacktops aren't TV Jones but are fine pickups on their own. I bought a G5420 about a year and a half ago with thoughts similar to yours (future pup swap) but they are still on the guitar. They are sensitive to height adjustment so do some homework before writing them off. Definitely Gretsch-y!

I found the Blacktops to be far superior to the generic-sounding "Gretschbuckers" of the 51xx series.
