Hi friends, I have been a long time out of this amazing forum, now I am back.
I just buy a vintage 1965 Mustang neck. My project is to get a good guitar starting from that nice neck. I wish to know your opinion about what to do, if trying to bring together all the vintage parts (correct 60's body, tremolo, bridge, pups, etc) or assembling a clone with a good body (mustang, or jaguar, or whatever to fit my 24 scale neck), pups, etc. regardeless of its originality. I own several strats and teles, but this would be my first Mustang. I'm lookinf for a good 65-66 mustang body, not too much success by now. What do you recommend? Thank you and best regards. My english is poor, sorry

Howdy old friend...welcome back.

Your best bet would be to find a used reissue Mustang body on one of the auction sites.

Next best would be to order one from a maker like Warmoth, Musikraft, etc. You can order them raw/unfinished and do the painting yourself, or you can order them with the finish you want.

;)
thank you very much, my friend. That's a very good advise, buying a good old body that fits well with my old mustang neck, old Wood is nice! the rest of parts can be new replacements, I don't mind because my priority is to get the best instrument that I can. I have found this afternoon a nice 66' body with it's neck plate for $500, not a bargain, and I'll have to pay shipment to my country and custom fees...humm

By the way, what a little "2" into a circle stamped close to the neck date means? thank you

You have to be a contributing member to post pics.

Then you go to your profile ("edit user profile") and upload pics. Once they're uploaded, you can click on them in your profile, copy the URL, and paste it in the 'link address (URL)' line below the message you're uploading. Add a link title too, like you see down below this message.

That little circle is known as a quality stamp. That shows the neck was inspected (the #2 is the inspector's ID number) and it passed the inspection.
