Life gets in the way of my G.A.S.

Our local music store has had a lefty Classic Vintage 50's Tele in the store for a long time. I've played it, and it sound very good, plays great and the pine body looks decent (although the seam is in an odd spot, but not noticeable on top, just in the cutaway).

It hasn't sold, so they've marked it down to $320. I'm thinking I might be able to get them down closer to $300.

I DON'T NEED ANOTHER GUITAR! Aagh!!! But it plays well, and I would drop a humbucker sized Seymour Duncan P-90 in the neck for a Tele configuration that I could actually live with.

What's wrong with me? I'm still waiting for my Epi Casino to arrive, so I really shouldn't spend the money on this...

...decisions, decisions...

You are tempted by it because (1) it's a GREAT price as marked, and (2) you are a guitar player, and actual need and reasoned logic have no bearing on the matter.

Just go get it.

If it turns out you don't bond with it, you'll make back what you paid for it.

Peegoo, your logic is seamless, and you're not helping at all!

You want it because:
1. It's there
2. It's left handed
3. We lefties don't have many opportunities, so when we see a left handed guitar, we feel it is our obligation to give it a home
4. Ignore the first three points, and just get it. You will regret it if you don't!

LHW,

Four very good points.

And here's what happened today.

I stopped by the music store that has the CV Tele, and where I also ordered a lefty Casino last July. They got an e-mail last Friday saying that my lefty Casino won't be here until March.

I said, "Right, March - just like they said in July it would be 30-60 days." They agreed and said "Yeah, we'll probably never see it. But that's Epiphone; just like Gibson."

Long story short(ened, just a little): I decided to get the Tele and forget about the Casino for now. They're leaving it on order; if it ever comes in ... sometime next year ... I'll see if I still want it (I'm sure I will).

So the Tele may be coming home with me on Thursday. I'll report back then.

Very good decision, IMHO! I know you were looking forward to the Casino, though! At least you can play this one this week!

Well, I played the CV Tele for awhile at the store, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on it. Plays nice, sounds pretty good (I'd change the neck pickup), but I don't *need* it...

Finances are tight enough right now, and some needed car repairs and Christmas coming dictate that I walk away.

I was even checking out another acoustic (that I don't need, either - hah!), but found out it's made in China, so I decided to pass on it as well.

The only thing I have any right to be gassing for right now is a small amp since I sold my Princeton (I'm down to two tube amps, both have 2 10" set-ups, which I like).

I like the new 68 Customs - the Princeton and especially the Deluxe Reverb. But those aren't in the budget right now, either! Also like the new Carr Skylark (I have a Carr Rambler), but at over $2K, it ain't happenin'.
