I was curious to see if anyone heard if Fender would be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Mustang guitar with an American nitro coated true to spec reissue. I know they have been producing the MIJ '65 for many years now and have recently issued alternative mustang options in Kurt Cobain, Modern Player and American Special flavors. I would like to know if I should be saving my pennies up for a special anniversary guitar. Personally I think it would be a hit to have a US made guitar as similar to the original as possible.

Doubt there will be much more than a nod to it, maybe, and only then maybe, a small CS run.

The guys buying the Mustangs these days don't care much about country of origin or nitro.

But any US nitro-finished model would cost more than a real vintage one does, even with the uptick in prices.
