Yes Mike the No is Mike E. Apparently he is out and replacement is to be named later. The word I have heard is No was his favorite.

From what I have heard, unless he had a hankering or you were from one of the big five dealers, most of the time when asked if he could do xyz the answer was NO. Can you do .... ? NO. How about ....? No. What can you do? We have nocasters....

"Most of the time when asked if he could do xyz the answer was NO."

Well, anybody in business will tell you "no" if you're asking for a freebie. Throw some cash at them and they miraculously become responsive.

I think it was paying customers asking for run of the mill items that should have been no brainers, but I only know the story second hand. Such as it it is it sucks, as change seems top down driven by the $ bottom line, and sure it is a business but then again the racing teams for companies do not drive the buisness, they drive the good will. Just the same we will miss him.
R
He may have been a cranky dude, but I gotta tell ya, he ran a fine shop. He may have had an ego to beat the band, but Fender CS guitars, especially the NOcaster were great guitars, and he ushered in the Time Machine series. Some may prefer Cunetto's relicking (I don't necessarily) but the guitars' specs were more accurate with the TM's.

He knew his beeswax too, about woods. My Nocaster is really really magic, it's a team-built one-off. I'll put it up against any vintage tele or even broadcaster you like. And other than flipping the control plate around, it's bone stock.

Vaya Con Dios, Miguel!
