Yes, I've got the 5422T in white.

Great player, chunky neck, excellent build quality, and the "Blacktops" sound very good IMO.

Any of the 5422/5420's are a great "bang for the buck" IMO.

Darn nice Gretsch at a great pricepoint.

I played one in a local shop several months ago. If I had the cash at the time it would have gone home with me.

Thinking about the amber maple at MF for $639.

Clarence, compared to the other finishes being $250 more Amber Maple is a steal and good looking too!

If you like that color, a steal it is. If you don't, well, that's a different story.

That's a great price for one heck of a nice Gretsch.

Pulled the trigger and got the 5422 AM. First impressions are that fit & finish are superb. I'm a fan of Gretsch orange and the AM is it in spades. The finish (stain I'm assuming) is flawless & a very nice wood grain can be seen through the finish. After being tuned up, the action and set up is really good right out of the box from MF. The tuners seem a bit cheap, but from playing 5420's in the stores, I expected that and will probably replace them with locking tuners pretty quickly - any suggestions? And props to MF who delivered for free within 24 hours (I'm only about an hour from the KC distribution center.) I really like the tone of these p/u's. I play mainly through a 70's BandMaster and a Princeton. Really enjoying this one, and enjoying the savings as well. Great product, great price.

5422 is a nice guitar. Especially like the walnut stain finish. The pups are jangly, very traditional Gretsch type of sound. Much better than the 5100 series IMHO.

FYI: The 54xx Blacktop Filtertrons are adjusted woefully low from the factory. They REALLY come into their own when raised up close to the strings. A common topic of discussion on several other Gretsch forums.

Another highly recommended mod (but simple and reversible) is to replace the OEM rattletrap bridge with a Compton (link below). BIG improvement in tone and sustain.

My 5420 has been my #1 for nearly a year now.

I tried to think

but nothing happened!

Asked how to adjust the pickups on my new 5422. Then just used the screws. Thought I might have to shim.
They were found (with strings depressed at last fret) 1/8" away. Adjusted them to 1/8" bass and 3/32 treble, both pickups. Sounds a little chimier. I like it.
