I am not a complete

idiot - I have several pieces missing!

There's a place down in Asheville where I go to jam night now and then. Tonight I was talking guitars with the guy who runs the jam and he said the club owner has a Starcaster. I told him I had one as well and he was pretty surprised. He had only heard about the owner's guitar and has never seen one.

Next week there will be two Starcasters on stage together and lots of pics. The idea is to do a story in the local entertainment paper appealing to guitar gear heads and promoting the jams. Should be fun!

Be sure to find two solid state Deluxe Reverbs to play though to complete the insanity. ;0

My only SS amp is an M-80. Will that do?

The grey carpet was frayed, drink stained, and flapping loose when I got the amp. It's now covered in denim from some of my old 501s.

That should work admirably.

Carry on!

So the buzz I'm seeing around the Interwebs is that Fender are actually reissuing the Starcaster (and the Coronados). Never thought I'd see that happen.

I've always wanted a Starcaster, so I'm hoping that the reissues are cheaper than the originals are going for right now. The pics I've seen online appear to have a Tune-O-Matic and only 4 knobs, so I guess maybe it's a Vintage Modified or Pawn Shop?

Wouldn't be surprised to see a Squier VM but if things hold we'll see a Pawn Shop first.

It's what they've done on all the rest thusfar.

Are they actually going to stick with the Starcaster name? That name now conjures up a different image to the younger crowd whose parents buy their guitars at Costco!

"Are they actually going to stick with the Starcaster name? That name now conjures up a different image to the younger crowd whose parents buy their guitars at Costco!"

The prototypes look like they say "Starcaster" on the headstock.

One is a "Fender Starcaster" the other is the "Starcaster by Fender" line - definitely easy for the uninitiated to become confused, but aimed at very different audiences. They should have saved the Starcaster name for this comeback - the fact that they used it on their lowest line leads me to believe even Fender weren't figuring on bringing this back a few years ago.

Well Fender has officially announced them but does any dealer have them?

Andertons in the UK are taking preorders and say availability before the end of the year. I'd assume that they'll probably show up in the U.S. online stores, at least for preorder, any time now.
