This baby left the factory in 1976 and has seen a LOT of play over the years. One strum and I sure knew why...

WHAT A SOUND! And SUSTAIN FOREVER!!!

I had made my way to REAL GUITARS in San Francisco to pick up a guitar being set up by Gary Brawer. While killing some time I noticed the F-50SB hanging on the wall and picked it up.

Literally, one strum and I knew it was leaving with me!

The neck binding is cracked and the back of the neck has little finish left. In other words, just how I like 'em!

If ever there was a guitar I knew would be a keeper for life, this is THE ONE! I know Dave Van Ronk is lookin' down and he's smilin'.

And... I got it out the door for just $1250!

Sometimes you just get lucky and I sure as hell did with this one.

6

"Does this mean you'll be selling your D55...?"

No way!

I have four Guilds in my stash and they're all keepers. I've loved Guild instruments since I played my first one back in 1965. Current Guilds:

'76 F-50SB
'74 D-40 (bought new)
'06 D-55 (my main solo gigging instrument)
'06 F-412

I must say that to MY ears, this F-50SB is the best sounding Guild acoustic I've ever played. Not hard to see why it had the hell played out of it by previous owners!

I took it in to Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, CA yesterday. They will do a refret, neck binding replacement, and pro setup on it for me. Man, I just can't believe I got so darn lucky to find that instrument!

6

I've had my D40 for 36 years. It's had tuners, new bride and one partial refret. Worth it. More than a match for many Martins.

Doesn't look new any more. Hasn't had finish on the back of the neck for the last 20 years or so.

Hey Fritz, Bring that thing up to Applegate next year. I'll try to remember to bring my '78 G-37 and we can have a Guild-a-thon. --mick
