A friend of mine has a Guild accoustic-electric he bought new in 91-92.

It plays great but could use some minor repairs and cleanup.

He was asking if he should repair it or replace it. I suggested he buy a new one and give the old one to me, which he didn't go for.

Do you recomend a local luthier or sending to Guild?

Thanks for any feedback.

Bob - Jamon Zeiler. He's moved to Rising Sun now, but *well worth* checking out. He used to do all the guitar work for Buddy Rogers (and still might) and he's excellent. He fixed up my daughter's K. Yairi and I was really impressed with his work.

Let's just say that if my Guild needed some work, he's the guy I'd get to do it.

I sent him the link to Zeiler and we talked more about it today. His daughter has been playing his Guild which is why he is looking to have it checked out.

He was wondering what it would cost to have it checked out or if it would be better to just replace it, which I have no idea. I played it a couple times last year and really really liked it. It has some miles on it but my guess is that it is not a cheap Guild, he bought it new around the time his band performed on the AMA's.

I offered to take a look at it, clean it up, replace the strings and do a basic setup on it.

Later this week I will take my Douglas over for her to use while I check out his guitar.

I am looking forward to playing around with it for a bit and give him an honest opinion on it's condition and value.
