That it wasn't until the 2nd sitting of the day that I remembered it had a pull/boost volume pot.

Lol.

Head with NOS Hytron 6V6 + a Tung Sol RI 12xa7

Particularly sexy with a Tele straight in.

Cool! It's like getting a new amp. Again.

I'm way ahead of you. 3 pedals arriving tomorrow, plus a new speaker.

Those don’t count. You ordered those before you rediscovered your amp.

Yeah... before long you’ll spend more than the price of a new amp.

I had a Special 6 and loved it. Thinking bigger was better, I sold it and ordered a Special 12/20RT. I found one NOS online for $400. The regular price was $600-700.

After I got it, let's just say it had issues. I should've returned it but instead, I took it to my amp tech and he touched up most of the poor solder joints and fixed some loose wires. I also replaced all of the tubes that included 60's era NOS RCA 6V6's and a speaker swap.

When it was all done, I had easily $650-700 in it, but it's now a great-sounding amp.

I originally had the S6 Combo but had some tube rattle issues so I got the head and a cab. Its nice that the amp comes equipped with 4/8/16 ohm outs. I also tried running out to my Celestion Blue in my Princeton Reverb II and ooh boy, that sounds notably sweeter than the G12H30. Unfortunately the G12H30 is 16 ohm, otherwise I'd be inclined to try it in the PRII and do a switcheroo. I just don't dig mismatches.

I had a couple of special 6 combos over the years and found it a very well made amp that sounded super sweet when dimed. Only knock imo is the lack of sparkle.
