Seen some really horrific guitar repairs and mods, but this is a classic.

"Condition: See photos. No words can accurately describe the level of fail that was painstakingly poured into this extraordinarily botched repair / retrofit job."

You gotta give them points for ingenuity!

That definitely redefines the term "bolt-on neck".

And how 'bout those shims????

Somebody *REALLY* wanted to play that guitar.

Mojo to all the powers involved.

All repairpersons start somewhere. Guitars that get butchered like this usually end up on eBay, with a description very similar to the following:

"I bought this guitar for parts and never got around to using it on a project. The guy I bought it from really did a hack job on it, so I'm passing my savings on to you."

They're always too embarrassed to admit they were the one that turned it into firewood with some guitar-lookin' parts screwed onto it.

It does remind me of the first guitar I built, I was 11, it didn’t look as bad as this one but it certainly imploded when I strung it up. I had not one clue what I was doing, not the slightest understanding of the pressures involved, I’ve told the story here before. I needed a bass.

I did learn that just because it looks like a bass guitar doesn’t mean it is. It did suffice to convince Dad that I was serious about playing, I got the Framus Bass that Christmas.

Why do I keep fixing things that work?

That guitar looks like my old Sears hollow body that my folks bought me when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I still have some of the parts that came off of it, but only the controls and the jack plate.
Over the years it started warping and I blew it up with a 12 gauge shotgun. Ka-blueeh!!
Oh yeah, I still have the pickups because I'm a 'keeper of junk' and all things I might need in the future. Once a hoarder, always a hoarder! Lol

Oh maaaaan! I bet that was before the era of YouTube!

That would have made a great video. Probably would have gone viral!

(and remember when “going viral” meant something else???)

That's because you were sitting in with us :o)

It's an old trick: always have a really rubbish guitar when playing out. If anyone asks to sit in, hand them that. They'll struggle the entire time, and you'll get the guitar groupie chickies.

WARNING: If they use it to wipe the floor with you, it's time to take up stamp collecting.
